Travelling to Angasii? This is just a little useful information to prepare you for your stay ...
Weather & Topography We are situated on 1575 hectares of Thornveld near Thabazimbi, in the north western part of South Africa, Limpopo province. We are a relatively flat lying area with Thabazimbi in the distance, directly translated to the Mountain of Iron. This forms part of the Waterburg Mountians.
Our soil structure is made up mostly of red clay and turf, with numerous magnetite bands occurring through Angasii clearly visible on the surface of dirt roads. The flora is mostly made of various thorn trees and bushes, including the most commonly known Buffalo Thorn, White Stinkwoods, Akasia, Wild Fig and Karee. Thus it is always advisable to wear appropriate shoes and take care with children's bare feet.
We experience a hot summer between November and March, and temperate autumn from March to May. Winter is mostly warm during the day, cooling at night, June to August resulting in a windy September. September can be our driest time as we await our summer rain, starting in November. Suncreen is always advisable irrespective of the month as the sun always shines on Angasii! Bring a hat too for some serious game viewing. We have the added benefit of being classified a malaria free area. However, we do recommend bringing any extra defence lotions or sprays you may prefer.
Checking In & Out Check In time is from 3pm to 7pm each evening. If a later arrival is required, please contact us, to avoid disappointment. An extra charge of R114 is levied for a late arrival. Check Out should be done by 11am. Please return your key to prevent unnecessary charges. All outstanding accounts must be settled before departure
Booking Requirements for Meals, Activities and Services: A 24 hour lead time is required when booking all meals, activities and services. If you have any requirements for the day of your arrival, please be sure to contact us in advanced.
Payments On arrival the outstanding amount after your deposit deduction should be paid. Any extras thereafter can be settled on departure. All beverages and meals are collectively charged and added to your account and should not be paid for individually. Full credit card facilities are available, however from time to time the clarity of the Telkom line is compromised that prevents payments from going through. In this instance, a copy of your card and the details are taken for the payment to be processed as soon as the issue has been rectified. We do accept American Express and Diners Cards; however an extra 3% is levied onto your total. This goes towards the extra commissions these credit card companies deduct. Internet payments can also be made within the reception. Regrettably cheques are not accepted.
Local Supplies We are situated 10 kilometers from Northam. This is a busy mining town with limited available supplies. We do advise that if you are self catering that you purchase your necessary items en route. However, there is a Shoprite Checkers and Pick 'n Pay within Northam, if something is forgotten.
Distances: Northam = 9 kilometers Thabazimbi = 45 kilometers Rustenburg = 100 kilometers Brits = 130 kilometers Pretoria East = 200 kilometers Johannesburg (Sandton / Fourways) = 200 kilometers
